Frank B. Atkinson of Hanover is the Chairman of McGuire Woods Consulting and previously served in state government as counselor and director of policy for Governor George Allen. He has served on a number of boards and commissions and assisted the Governor's Higher Ed Commission on behalf of the Virginia Business Higher Education Council. He graduated from the University of Virginia law school in 1982. Frank brings an in depth knowledge of the workings of higher education and has worked on many of the higher education reforms in Virginia over the past three decades, including the design and implementation of the Grow By Degrees initiative which helped propel the Top Jobs Higher Education Act of 2011.
Millet worked with Pillard in the solicitor general office beginning in 1996, but stayed through most of the Bush administration before leaving in 2007 to join private practice. Millet has argued cases in nearly every federal appeals court and appeared 32 times before the Supreme Court, the second highest number of high court appearances of any female attorney. She currently a partner at the Washington firm of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer Feld, where she heads the firm Supreme Court practice.
Support for slavery was hardly unanimous in the United States, however. By the late 1700s, Moses Brown, along with other professors and even the presidents of what are now Brown, Columbia and Yale universities, among other schools, had made a cause of antislavery, and in some cases had personally freed slaves. This debate even spread to the South: In the 1820s and 1830s, student societies at the University of Georgia resolved that slavery was unjust, while the University of North Carolina published an antislavery critique by a university trustee.

The Big East situation is tricky because of seven nonfootball members such as Georgetown and Villanova that help make it one of the nation strongest basketball conferences.
